A sure way to boost my iron?

In 2008, I was in the top five percentile for blood donations, but for the past year, every time I try to donate, my blood iron levels are too low. In Bellevue, they ask for 12.5 minimum. I've tried about ten times since I used to donate frequently, and since then, I'm usually at a range of 11.6-12.0 I used to take iron supplements every day, but they didn't work. The doctor told me to take it with vitamin C, but I had already run out of supplements by then and I didn't want to ask my Mom to buy more.

I made an appointment for tomorrow, and I had beef noodle soup for dinner (for red meat) and ate an entire bag of salad greens straight (for leafy green vegetables). The bag of salad had 1.5 servings in it. Then I ate a large naval orange and took one iron supplement. The supplements I just bought are 25 mg. I'm going to eat another orange and take another supplement in the morning.

Do you think these methods will have boosted my iron enough, or does anyone have any suggestions that work for them?
