My friend made an outstanding bicycle chopper like the one they sell in america..(in desing & tech) He made it for his A2 project and kept in the shool after couple of months so that he could finish the fishing touches like pumping of tyres. But unfortunately it was stolen from a kid in the lower set. (secondary school)

Now they've caught the thief, and he confessed, but now he said he gave the bicycle to some1 else, which he dosen't know where it is.

Please advice, what should he do, he has the following options

should he continue to prosecute the thief for theft and burglary, which he his currently OR should he accept the financial settlementt offered by the thief's mum.

Is there any chance of him getting the bicycle back, and plus, he has spent a lot of money time and effort in building this bicycle, even staying up until 6pm

So please advice, and thanks in advance

That really sucks.. It really wretch your guts when your bike gets stolen, especially one that you spent so much time and effort building up.

I would first, threaten them with pressing charges, since I'm not sure if he is taking the effort to find out who he sold to, and finding it. If its proven he did his best, then taking the settlement is the only thing you can do. I wouldn't say the chances getting the bike back is impossible. He sold it to someone and most likely the bike didn't change hands after that.

Prosecute. Demand the return of the bike. THEN, sue for the bike and damages.

He KNOWS where the bike is - he shows a total lack of remorse, he needs to be punished to help straighten himself out.

By the way, staying up to 6pm is not that difficult... I do it all the time.
