I'm so glad to have run across this thread! i thought i was crazy that it seems my cystic acne retruned this winter. (I am in Michigan) it all began exactly a year ago when it got cold here. i went to a dermatologist because it was so awful, i never really suffered from acne before for some reason...however after going through taking some medication, weaning off a oral medication and onto only topical everything was perfect come around to summer... i have not changed my treatment routine at all (it has worked wonders!) however now i find i have cystic acne all over my face again :-( reading your post was so helpful! i am going to work on incorporating more sauna/humidity into my life! i will be sure to return with results as well 
omg. i cant believe i never realized thats what that was. get them all the time too
