A Smartphone with no data phone! Motorola Milestone vs Bell Galaxy S Vibrant

This is my First Post and I have a dillema with choosing an android phone.

Right now, I've got a Fido Ericsson Phone that's about to finished it's contract this December of 2010. I'm paying 25$ a months for 2 years, I want a serious upgrade and I might need to change providers for this.

The major thing I want for a phone upgrade is the Android OS. I also want a big display/screen. Out of all the looking, I've picked 2 phones I think will be awesome for me.

the Motorola Milestone looks like a great android phone. with a QWERTY keyboard that looks dependable (feels too small for me but i can adjust) and has a great screen and can be overclocked to 1 GHz. It's priced for 100$ for 3 years

The Bell Galaxy S Vibrant looks to be a greatest touchscreen phone I've ever seen. It might be the biggest screen for Canada. The keyboard felt great but I never trust a touchscreen unless it's really good. it's priced for $150 for 3 years.

Now...the thing is I have bell WI-FI so, it's useless for me to get a data plan and also the Bell Internet is on another person's name and not mine to pay alone.

I just want a simply cheap voice plan that will have decent text messaging.

I also know that i would have to pay out the data plan in the contract after 1 month (a price that's steep, but it's worth it in the end) .

After all of these parameters, I need some help/advice even though I have until December to decide what to choose. I would really appreciate this. Thanks

When you buy a smartphone like those above from a carrier, they would require you to have a data contract. Every carrier I have seen that offers an iPhone, Blackberry, or Android requires you also sign up with a data plan.

If you want to buy a smartphone and use it without a data plan, you may have to buy one independently off the shelf, which is expensive. But such phones are also unlocked, so you can take it to any carrier and apply a voice and text only plan of your own.
