A serious question for poets...?

Have you ever approached
a hairy situation
and said to yourself,
" Self, put the pen down
and back away from that notebook
.....s l o w l y"
Seriously is there such a thing
as writing to much?
Like 8 poems in 3 hours?

Can there be to much of a good thing?!

Don't be such an addict, I guess. Keep everything in moderation. lol. I mean, seriously, pretend you're another person and read your question. Eight poems in 3 hours? Are you kidding me? That should be somewhere near Guiness. Try to do it slowly, more efficiently. Think every line through, make it appealing to the reader's eyes, most great poems are made that way.

Just a thought.
 
There are 2 different types of poet. Some poets write all day, with scraps all over the place (scraps that they later come back to and use for a new poem). They go through so many scraps and drafts that they get a good poem one in every 10, for example.

The other type of poet doesn't write too often, but when they do there is an abundance of metaphors, similies and smooth flowing lines pouring out on the page, this is my stilo. I work more effectively like that, it's like sex in that the longer you go without it the better it seems when you do it. :)

I do not see anything wrong with writing 8 poems in 3 hours. It just means that your mind is on a surge for writing. Actually I have been writing most of my life and I have found times when I just couldn't write. Sometimes my best work comes from a feeling not thoughts at all. It is easier for me to just write and it developes into a story or poem.
