A quiet diner or brunch place on Sunday ~ 2pm for 6+ close to a subway?

Anywhere within Manhattan works. We can do the boroughs too as long as it's close to a subway. This is for my writer's group meeting and we're looking to explore. Relatively quiet is certainly a requirement as is a place that'll let us linger.
