I have a theory: I'm a singer - soprano in fact - and I auditioned for Open Call but I didn't get in. my parents and my vocal coach were shocked, but I didn't think much about it... until she mentioned a friend of hers. Her friend is also a talented soprano who has won many scholarships for voice and attends USC. I heard her sing once in an opera and it's no wonder why she got the lead role. Anyway, my teacher said that she auditioned for SEVEN straight years and not once could she get into the competition. So once again, here's my theory: is it possible that auditioning jury is prejudice against classical singers?
I've seen videos of classical singers, but they were either children so their voice had mature enough, or they just weren't that good.
