It seems that a position of compassion is inconsistent with punishing someone for a bad habit. I am not talking about people who harm others as a result of or related to the drug habit. That is a very different issue, just like driving under the influence is very different than getting drunk at home and affecting no one but yourself. So, what would Jesus say?
