my little boy will be between 8 and 9 months when summer starts. I have a large boat with 3 downstairs, inside rooms. my fiance and i invested in it last summer. there is a bathroom but the toilet is port a potty style, meaning you go into a hole and somebody eventually has to empty out the basin. (nasty , i know) needless to say, we do not use it. the boat has a tank for running water but it is broken. we are starting this summer to go to lake erie, which is 2 hours from my home. i will be taking my baby.
now what we did last year when i was pregnant was get up, go to the lake, boat and swim and stay on the boat (like i said its like a camper) and in the a/m, get up and go to a nearby restaurant or gas station and wash our face and hands and do our hair, get dressed and then go back out for another day and go home at evening time.. that lake was only 1/2 hour from home. now, since the lake is so much farther away we are going to be staying on the boat at our dock all weekend sometimes even four days. so i guess i really have a series of ?'s actually not just one
1.)how do i bathe my baby over these long weekends? is it acceptable to bathe him in the womens rest room of public places? if so, totally nude or just a sponge bath? any product suggestions good for travel or things like this? i want to keep heat rash off of him as much as possible.
2.) do i need to use powder to keep him from getting heat rash?
3.) how do i keep his hands clean? he will be too young still to understand hand sanitizer and i can't wash his hands before meals when ever i want out on the lake and so forth.
4.) what is a good sunblock for babies and how often do i apply?
5.) we also do a good bit of actual camping in our tent as well. how do i make him comfortable in a tent and make bottles near the tent and so forth. what do i do w/ dirty diapers (we use disposable)? how do i bathe him at a campground?
i really want to take my son right from the start to have all these experiences w/ me and our family and friends. even the dog goes, so i really do not want to have to leave him at home or w/ a relative. my grandparents had a cabin at lake erie growing up and i loved that memory. i want my son to remember the same. i want him to be there for all the lake memories from the word go.
thank u!
