Hi everyone,

I have enrolled in courses at my local college for this summer and fall semester. I was told to file for financial aide since I am a single mother of two boys, that I may qualify for assistant. Well, I went to the FAFSA website and filled out the applications. I the checked a week later and showed my EFC was 0. I printed out the SAR report, but now I am not sure what to do next. What does the EFC score mean? Do I need to bring the SAR to the financial aide office perhaps? How do I know if I was awarded any pell grants or anything like that? I'm really stuck and not sure what to do next? Thank you for all your help everyone. Have a great weekend!

An EFc of O is a very good thing. It means that you are eligible for full fiancial aid. When you filled out the Fafsa did you put your school information on it. If you did then the information will be forwarded to your school. Also did you fill out the fafsa for the 2009-2010 school year and the 2008-2009 school year. Your 2008-2009 fafsa and aid covers the summer classes. However the fall semester would be under the 2009-2010 school year. Make sure you applied for both if you can. Your school will be in contact with you. If it is too late to get Financial Aid for the summer you may want to reconsider taking those classes and just wait for the fall semester. You might even get a refund check too.

You should get a confirmation in your email. Usually, if you finished the Fafsa the government will spend 4-7wks on your application. Then, you will get your results. Hopefully, you will qualify for aid, they are quite picky :)
