I heard that someone said Lincoln wasn't a great president?
But He terminated disunited state of USA.
otherwise, There are N. USA, S. USA two nations.
Just like N Korea ,S. Korea.
In our history lessons, He was a hero. I am from asia.
What do american think of this?

President Lincoln is most credited in abolishing slavery.
That issue had already divided the North and South, and by threatening military force to do so, the country became further divided.
The Southern forces fired the first shot at Ft. Sumter, South Carolina, which began the shooting war, Civil War.

At the time, he was not considered a hero by some. This resulted in his assassination.

After total defeat of the South by the North, the country became united stronger than before.

Sometimes people forget that US was not the only slave countries.
England, France, also held slaves in addition to others.
They did abolish slavery before the US did.

England profited greatly during slavery by furnishing transportation by ship, carrying slaves to the US, then carrying goods from the US back to England.
Bear in mind that African tribes sold their captives and kidnapped others in order to sell and supply the slavers.
No American is proud of our past, but none of us at present, had any part in it.

Lincoln had his share of problems, every President does, but the troubles he faced were the worst in our history (even worse than the calamity 0bama is currently causing) and he overcame them.

Arguably the greatest American president looking back into history, but some, those without any historic perspective or dislike the outcome of the Civil War, may think differently. Trust me, those who consider Lincoln anything other than great have some sort of hidden agenda, and a definitely a small minority.

Presidential popularity at the time of service rarely is an indicator of greatness. Only history defines true greatness.

Lincoln was an extremely unpopular president. He had many enemies on both sides. But he was right in his convictions. During the war, this country split in two. The union and the CSA or Confederate States of America.
