I was busy finally updating my new website yesterday, and found this poem I wrote. I'm not planning on updating it or anything, but would love your feedback on it:
AND SO IT BEGINS…
Hearts on fire passions engulf them
Caressing the skin and kissing the lips
Passionately holding on to each other
Lying there under the satin covers
Lavender fills the room rose petals strewn across
The bed as they lay and make love this night
Too soon it is over and they must leave each other
He goes to his clothing thrown upon the floor
The cell phone is ringing
She knows about the call
He dresses with haste as she lays there to weep
He holds her hand and touches her cheek
I will come home
I promise you this
He gets into a car
Nothing unusual
She lies under the covers and picks up the phone
He answers his cell and she begs him come home
But he has no choice
To work he must go
He reaches his destination
As he opens the door
The commander in chief is waiting at the door
They walk inside and they look on the screen
The day has arrived and this they agree
As the cameras and lights begin their flashing and whirring
They stand there and announce
War has begun
