Hitchhiking, in space, has its perks
Much safer than, I think, by far
The rides, I obtain, have silly quirks
Random trips from star to star
(Wherever, whatever… it works)

Dropped off on mars, I wandered about
Picked up a rock, carefully studied
I jumped and turned, hearing a shout
From the man approaching, face ruddied
(I am guessing he has been into the stout!)

His words floated silently over my head
I gazed at him wondering, fearful
I could not hear a damn word that he said
Expectant at first of an earful
(I need to find this man a warm bed)

Looking around, no building is seen
I took him in hand, headed him back
His complexion now was turning green
Realizing that he is too heavy to pack
(Perhaps, I should rewrite this scene……)

I found a cavern and pushed him inside
I wondered where everyone else was
I’ m now getting fretful, with ease I confide
Feeling as though I am helpless
(It quiet became, had odd man just died?)

As my eyes watched, his foot left my sight
Totally gone, not a bit of him showing
The stars now presenting, keenly their light
I sensed I was finished, I must be going
(I hold out my thumb now, I’m off in the night)

..my muse is amused by an infection unchecked by antibiotics.... oddly enough..
