First of all I need to ask, what is it about gay people that makes them so intimidating in the eyes of straight people? Most straight people have an idea of an overly effeminate gay male and a somewhat masculine lesbian. Now the straight male usually has a 'phobia' of gay MEN, correct? So a big, muscular, testosterone pumped guy is afraid of little fairies prancing around flinging their wrists? I'm just curious on as to why this might be so?
Often people claim that homophobia is a result of an inner insecurity about ones own sexuality. However, I just can't seem to grasp how this big, muscular and testosterone pumped male can fear turning into a pathetic, girlish, skinny and man loving gay man...i.e. experience a complete shift in personality.
One last question guys, do you think I'm homophobic?
Mmmm, well as a gay male I don't think I'm homophobic. I asked the question because I think many gay people take comments about homosexuality out of context. I was remarking on what the average straight guy might think, not my own personal opinion. Gay people, in my opinion, are prone to getting too easily offended by comments regarding homosexuality because of their own phobia that everyone is out to get them. Many gay people themselves seem insecure, and I say this as a member of the LGBT community.
