reports, etc? So pretty much I was on the right lane, he was on the left behind me, and he was try to pass me on my left, and scratched my car (very insignificant) and broke his head light.
We pulled over and the dude tried to blame it on me. It was clearly his fault.
I was advised by a relative to call the cops and get a report. Cops came 2 hours later and advised me not to file the report because a) NY has a "no fault" policy where they do not state who was at fault, they just state what they see (which makes no sense in my opinion) and b) the report would go straight to the insurance company which would cause a raise on my insurance. The cop told us to shake hands and call it off. We did.
Talking to my relative, turned out that the cop was just lazy and didn't want to file the report.
If I had filed the report would it have caused my insurance to go up?
Can this cab driver file a report against me now? (he lied to the cops, i'm sure he wouldn't have trouble lieing to the insurance company)
