I am thinking of switching to ATT or T-Mobile and getting a free phone then selling it off on ebay and picking up some unlocked unbranded phone. I currently am "test driving" a LG VX8550 and like the phone but realized I dont want a phone that everyone will have. In college I had a Motorola that was never for sale here so it was kind of cool. Well I want that again but I like sliders since Ive already had candy bar phones and flip phones, I want one of these now. I really really liked the sony s500i and was almost ready to buy it but then saw all the threads on the keypad cracking and I plan on having this phone for a couple years so that?s not really acceptable. Any other really nice sliders out there? I want it to work pretty well as an mps player like my current chocolate and look appealing. What is out there?

the s500 key problem has been fixed...all phones made after week 36 are ok.
but if youre still scared...look at the lg shine, the nokia 6500slide, the Sony Ericsson w910 and the samsung u700
btw: the w580 is more than likely going to be picked up by at&t and it looks almost identical to the s500 in which case you wont be that different anymore...sorry

the specs are wrong...it can support up to 8GB(only 4Gb is currently sold) M2 is not like microSD they dont need to change the indexing system so its all compatible...
as for the production week you'll have to ask your seller (my fault but it was week 26 and there is still some debate as to whether or not its all be fixed) but if you dont want to deal with it get the yellow one, as the problem lies in the green paint used not the design itself

nvm...scratch the s500 off your list...apparently people are saying that the keypads still arent fixed...its best not to deal with the stress if you get a lemon...but the other 4 i suggested should be good. also with the w910, shine and 6500slide all made of metal they should be able to handle a good amount of punishment...but if you want now i think your best bet is the shine as i dont believe any of the others are released yet but should be by the end of the year
