Who remembers this excellent period film of 1966? It focuses on the reign of Henry VIII, who sought approval of a divorce from Sir Thomas More, who refused to give it as it breached his ethical and religious morals.

After years of not seeing it, I was delighted to find my friend had a copy and found myself watching some of it. Needless to say I ordered my own copy as soon as I got home.

The acting from the cast was absolutely breathtaking, especially Paul Schofield. Why don't they make films like this anymore? :(

Quite agree this is an excellent picture. :)
DYK that Charlton Heston was desperate to play the Paul Schofield part and was slightly peeved because he didn't get it. He made a version later on which didn't go down quite as well as this version!
Have also seen this on stage many years ago...which was also quality.
