Alot of people have alot of strong opinions on this topic, so I will just give mine. I am straight male and this topic draws intense emotions from people so therefore it can't be discussed rationally. There are two sides on this issue, one side says that marriage is between a man and a woman and we don't want to change the defention of marriage because of religion and there is another side that says it should be all the same. They should repeal the gay marriage ban and DOMA for equal rights BUT at the same time taking everything religious and anything that references god out of a marriage cermony. There can be a mulitude of options, if straight couples don't want their cermonies to be the same as gay ones they should have an option can that makes it completey different and they can even legally document their marriage differently then a gay one ( Call it a traditional marriage or whatever) BUT at the same time it falls under the same Umbrella of marriage. Marriage won't be a religious cermony and everybody will be treated equally under the law. The most important thing is that everyone gets treated equally under the law.
I think it should satsify everyone
Most religions of have their own specific views on homosexuality and churches shouldn't have to change those views
Emmasj if it doesn't effect the rights of gays and it is still falls under the umbrella of marriage, why shouldn't they?
ver-jun I meant that for goverment marriages everyting religious should be taken out of it. If gays want religious cermonies they should go to a church
