My exam prompt is :

Throughout the years that humans have been thinking they have had countless ideas. Pick one of those myriad ideas and explain how that idea has had an effect on the course of American history.

I would like some possible topics to write about and some supporting cause: Thanks very much.
 
wow, ur teacher sounds useless, thats the worst prompt ive ever seen.

how about the idea of individualism-- america is founded on the principles that every "man" is just as good as the next (with the exception of blacks) and that every person has certain inalienable freedoms, and everyone should have a say in the government
