when applying for a job? Or applying for grad school, an internship, etc. I understand that faking a degree or making some huge change to your transcript could be easily found out, but I'm talking about minor things like, say, changing that embarrassing F in your underwater basket weaving class into a C, then changing some A's into some A-'s to keep your GPA the same as it was before. You know? That kind of thing.
I'm just curious to know if anyone is familiar with the checks (if any) employers/etc can use to catch cheating.
I also understand that this is morally objectionable - that's not what I'm asking about. When I ask "what stops me" I'm asking about what actual concrete risks and repercussions could there be.
The sealed envelope/special paper is a good point - that clearly makes tampering nearly impossible. But there have been various situations where I've faxed transcripts, thus making it quite easy.
