I've recently become interested in the thought of owning a pair or two of selvage denim jeans, but not necessarily for their looks, and I have a few questions:
1. Are they any better at blocking out cold or wind than regular denim jeans? Or does that depend on how tight of a weave it is? In that case, what would be the tightest-weave brand or line of selvage denim?
2. Other than different colors or visual styles (which I'm not concerned about), is a pair of selvage denim jeans that could cost around $100-$150 "worse" enough in quality than a pair that could cost around $200-$300 to warrant all that extra money? If not, what's a good "budget" line of selvage denim jeans that isn't horrible in quality or something?
3. Can you wear selvage denim jeans on a motorcycle (more specifically, motorcycles like Harley Davidson's)? As in, do they protect you from heat and accidents as well as regular denim jeans?
4. And sort of related - is there any other type of denim that I should consider too, since I'm already looking into jeans that can easily cost $200? Like I mentioned earlier, I'm more interested in quality than style or brand-name, so I'm not interested if the only difference is some stupid logo or design.
Thanks!
