Ok, so I'm Compelled to paint an idea i have with oil paints, but i have yet to take the painting class... It would be Greatly Appreciated if you can help me out here!
ok questions...

Preperations

- What Oils or gels should i use to mix the actual paint in tubes with? i have Liquin Light gel [says its a quick drying medium idk if thats good or bad, i work kinda slow!!], i also have purified Linseed oil, and mineral spirits. I heard liquin was horrible to use though....

- How to mix the oil paint, with the medium [linseed oil, liquin gel]? like what are some good proportions for ie. Thick, very thick, med, thin, very thin?

- What should i do to the canvas i have to prepare for the painting... i heard some things about this, but im very unsure.

The process

- I have a dark background [a night sky with some stars exactally] and i will have light colored figures in the foreground. Someone said i should paint the light colored stuff first [the figures in the foreground] Then paint the dark background. or should i paint the background covering the whole canvas, and paint the figures on top. these figures are not translucent. basically what should i paint first, dark sky background, or light colored figures?

- this is connected to the question above!! There will be the human form in there, should i transfer the figure with transfer paper, should i sketch out the human figure on the canvas before i paint, i dont want the figure to be deformed, and when i draw humans, its alot of drawing then erasing, then drawing again... how should i proceed?

These are just some questions that come to mind, if i have an idea totally wrong please let me know.
Please if you are experienced with oil painting, help would be Greatly Appreciated! Even if you think i may already know the bit of advice you have for me, i probably dont, im totally new to painting. haha
and if i didnt make anything clear enough, or left something out ask me so as to avoid confusion and mistakes!

Thank you! =D
