1) How badly does acid reflux affect teeth?

2) Can you feel when enamal is weak? Can you rub off enamel with your tongue?

thanks

I worried about this also because my teeth were sensitive. Next time you go to the dentist ask him, my dentist said he's seen teeth that were affected by acid reflux. He said mine didn't show any acid wear at all.

I think acid reflux can affect teeth but you can't wear enamel off with your tongue.

It would be a good idea to ask dentist about this. I know there are mouthwashes out there that are supposed to strengthen tooth enamel but they could trigger reflux. I know certain toothpastes and Listerine irritate my esophagus.

It was my new dentist who told me I had GERD. My front two teeth had been developing an increasing "dip" near the gum for the last four years. I had severe heartburn on and off for twenty years. I went to my pcp who said my teeth looked like I had taken a file to them. I then saw a gastroenterologist who confirmed I had GERD and performed an endoscopy. I have been taking a ppi ever since and have had my teeth bonded.
