a couple of plan and upgrade questions

since i know some of you are very knowledgeable when it comes to t-mobile...

my dame and i have a family plan ($60 familytime unl nts 700) with two lines, the $25 family unlimited texting, and both lines with the $20 BIS. our two year contract was until may of this year. i haven't called to change anything so i'm assuming my account is going month-to-month at the moment. we're looking to upgrade both phones to the 9700 once it's released next week. i'm not very familiar with the new "even more" and "even more plus" plans, though. we don't mind having a 2 year contract if necessary. we're not looking to add more minutes (700 is enough for us since it's free within the t-mobile network).

we'd like to know if we're eligible for upgrade pricing on the phones (i should, right?) and if we could pay for both phones in installments with their payment plan. we're also curious if any of the new plans would make be more inexpensive than the current way things are.

many thanks in advance!!

Your best option is to keep your current plan and renew for 2 years. Your bis would have to change to $25 instead of 20. Don't switch to even more or even more plus. You can do the 4mo installment plan for the phones so you pay 50 for each up front + upgrade fees + taxes

Thanks for the info disturkis4u, it's greatly appreciated. Am I required to pay the extra $5/month for bis or would they grandfather my current rate?

I have the same BIS plan that you have, if your keeping the same plan and services prices won't be affected ( I did upgraded phones and no change on prices) you can have installment payments if you qualify for it, once you call they'll find that out for you.

thanks ealvnv... i just wanted to get some info before talking to the t-mo reps, just in case. i find it's always best to be armed with as much information as possible when dealing with people that are trying to sell you something.

ask for customer loyality (customer rentention) when you call, they can give you better options, they lowered our family text cost to $10.00 per month for unlimited. They also increased our mins by 500 per month with no cost increase. The contract time moved forward, but we kept the grandfathered good parts/ they can help more than regular customer service can.

many thanks for the suggestion, that sounds real good. i wouldn't mind a $15 reduction on our family texting. extra minutes wouldn't be bad, but we never use them.

I could use a little assistance also. My replacement 8120 is apparently on its last legs (rebooting on its own, hourglass, sluggish performance, etc. I had to warranty out my original 8120 back in August due to the trackball). I kinda need to replace the thing as I can sense that it won't make it to my upgrade date of March 6, 2010. My other alternative is my backup 8100 or 7100t. I would like to get either one of the following 4: 8220, 8520, 8900, or the 9700. Which would be the cheapest to get outright and save my full upgrade for March or is this even possible??

EDIT: By the looks of my account upgrade page at T-Mo, unless I sell everything I own to get the 9700, I'll have to either use my 8100 or get the 8520 LOL

I have two more questions and I feel like they relate to this thread.

When due for an upgrade, does the actuall date matter? (I was told I'm due in December, do I have to wait for a certain date or can I just do it Dec 1st?)

Trying to upgrade to BlackBerry Curve 8520, but data plan is required, since I am on a family plan, is there a plan that would add data to all 4 lines? (all 4 users have BlackBerry phones)

so i picked up our two new 9700s today from the local store. the system kept my $19.99 plan. a few issues right now though:

1) i can't set up my email accounts. it says i don't have BIS. however, i can PIN people and use BBM just fine.
2) i can't enable visual voicemail

Until May of 09? Yeah, I'd say you can get the upgrade. Mine was up last year and we've been paying month to month ever since and we got the upgrades for both BBs. If you get it now, there's an extra $50 off both phones for this weekend, so hurry! We got the Even More Plus plan too and it's not so bad. Yeah, the email set up took like, three tries for me, but I got my email set up. Try it again, if not, maybe call T-Mobile and let them know. I'm having problems setting up visual voicemail, too. Anyone figured out how to do it?
