a connotation with the words quibble and argue?

To quibble about something means to be a nit-picker, finding small flaws in something. When you argue about something, you take a definite position. So in that sense, argue is positive (because you are for something) and quibble is negative (because while you are against something, you don't have anything positive to offer in its place.)
