I saw this film last night and I have to say its one of the worst films I have ever seen. This premise is interesting but the film lack substance in every respect. The director comes across and dull, stupid and a borderline idiot. His affected slackerness comes across as a front and a lot of the "Oh god, I'm such a doofus..." type scenes seem staged.
The first 25 minutes consist of Chris (the director/protagonist) moaning about how difficult it is to make this film as no one will cooperate. You know a documentary is struggling when it starts filming itself. Chris obviously fancies himself as a Nick Broomfield type of film maker but lacks the skill, wit, charm and nous to carry it off. His insistance on having his sound boom and earphones with him in every shot smacks of blatant imitation.
At the start he reaRAB through some letters fgrom his ex's saying they wanted nothing to do with him or his film and you're sort of thinking its a bit harsh. 3 quarters through you wholeheartedly agree and can see why they want nothing more to do with him. His deadpan Napoleon Dynamite expression throughout the film making you want to punch him in the face.
Unfortunately this film is a really poor attempt to follow Nick Broomfield, Morgan Spurlock et al in making a documentary where the film makers becomes part of the story but it just enRAB up a sad freak show. Its a very interesting premise to examine your past relationships and sexual problems so publically, unfortunately this guy fails abjectly in every respect.
