A "Code Error" has rendered my E71 useless; NSS stopped reading my phone

Hi,

I have a Nokia E71 and I was told by Rogers to do a hard reset since they said they've had a lot of complaints about text messaging issues (on friday, my phone couldn't always make calls, put texts in my outbox rather than inbox, and received messages in waves rather than when they actually came). I couldn't do that because everytime I tried to put in the default 12345 code it gave me an error. Finally I tried restarting the phone while holding the green key, the 3 key and the * and it took me to the screen where I enter the country, date and time. Then it takes me to the home screen, but a few seconds later it asks me for a lock code. I try 12345 and it won't let me.

I plug it into NSS and read the file and it says that 12345 is, in fact, my code. After reading what others have said, it seemed that I needed to reset it (http://zblog9.wordpress.com/2009/07...n-the-code-back-or-reset-to-default-settings/), but the problem is that now I can't get NSS to recognize it. It merely says "Scanning for Product.....Error". Now, even if I try to open Nokia PC Suite it says phone is connected in an unsupported mode, even if I manage to get it to hook up via PC suite mode....

I called Nokia before this and all they offered to do was for me to pay an unknown amount to give my phone up for 7 business days so that I can get it reflashed.

Does anyone have any idea as to how I can proceed?

Thanks!

As a final thing, a while back while tinkering with my phone, I tried enabling the keypad lock but was unsuccessful so it locked me out and asked for my PUK code; I called Rogers and all was well. Might there be some relation here the issue I'm facing now?

Thanks!
