Hey i saw this on the net, there making a christmas Carol with Jim Carrey playing Scrooge, here what it said : ;)

Walt Disney Pictures and Robert Zemeckis

It has possibilities I guess.

Jim Carrey isn't my favorite for the part, as in my opinion he is a one character actor.
Maybe I'm a little out of date as regarRAB his recent work but many of his earlier movies were just to similar.

Big fan of Scrooge and A Christmas carol so I will certainly go see it and give the guy a chance.

Have seen at nine versions of the story so far and I don't intend to miss this one.

Am I reading the OP right in that Carrey will play Scrooge and all three ghosts? I hope not because that would be getting into Eddie Murphy territory.

I enjoy most versions of A Christmas Carol and it should be fun, although Carrey's performances can be limited sometimes he could be a great Scrooge. It's such a classic story that I can't see it not being entertaining, if that makes sense.

Most people think that because they've just seen him in Ace Ventura and a few others where he played a crazy character. Admittedly, some of these are his best (Cable Guy in particular, it's not a fantastic film but it HAS to be seen for Carrey's performance) but you have to see Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind to truly appreciate what he can do.

There is actually a sort of Scrooge element to Eternal Sunshine.

I just heard more news about this Movie, Jim Carry is for sure and there in talks with Tom Hanks and Bob Hoskins aswell and as the maker of Back to Future is doing the movie hes tryin to get Micheal J Fox and Christopher Lloyd to be in the Movie aswell. WOW would be aswesome what cool actors in one movie , here what it says : :D

According to a recent report on Jim Hill Media, Writer/Director Robert Zemeckis has written parts for Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd in his upcoming performance capture film, A Christmas Carol.

If true, the high-profile film would mark the first time the duo have worked together since Lloyd's guest-starring role on Spin City in 1999 (aptly named "Back to the Future IV - Judgement Day"). The pair also appeared in Bob Gale's 2001 film, Interstate 60, but did not share any scenes together.

According to the report, Fox would portray "Tiny Tim" and Lloyd would portray "Marley's Ghost". The pair would also be joined by other Zemeckis-alums, including Tom Hanks ("Bob Cratchit") and Bob Hoskins ("Mr. Fezziwig"), albeit at this point, no contracts have been signed and all four actors are on the director's wish list. Zemeckis has reportedly met with each actor to discuss ther respective supporting role, but so far Jim Carrey remains the only confirmed cast member to date.

Historically, Jim Hill Media has been spot-on in their reports over the years, so my gut feeling is that there's quite a bit of merit to this one too, especially given the fact that Zemeckis cast Crispin Glover in Beowulf. Still, Disney and ImageMoversDigital have yet to make any sort of official announcement regarding the casting, so consider it just a rumor until such time they do.

:D :p ;)

Interesting idea with Jim Carrey I suppose. I am curious how it will turn out.

For me the best version is the Alistair Sim one. Wonderful film!

Sorry to drag up and old thread! Apparently Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Tom Hanks are no longer listed on IMDB's cast list, but Bob Hoskins is.

A shame if Zemeckis can't get them into the film somehow, but it still sounRAB like a really good movie, and he has said that he wants to get all the accents right, and is faithful to the original story (which is only about 75 pages long, something which many people forget).

But I really would love it if he could get Fox, Lloyd and Hanks into it somehow, even if for a brief cameo. It would be the ultimate Zemeckis reunion if they could include other actors from his films, but that's probably way too ambitious.

I don't think MJF, Christopher Lloyd or Tom Hanks were ever considered to be in this. Just one of those fan rumours. I thought it had been known for ages that Bob Hoskins was Fezziwig, along with Colin Firth as Fred, Gary Oldman in the dual role of Bob Cratchit and Marley. Jim Carrey, of course, is doing Scrooge and the three Spirits.
