I was searching all over for a specific vehicle all day today so I could trade in my SUV for something a little more fuel efficient and a smaller monthly payment. I ended up at one dealership that didn't have exactly what I was looking for, but could put me into something else for about the same price. Without doing research, I took the bait. I took the car for a test drive, had the dealer explain all the nice features etc. I assumed the price was a bit much, but still a good price for the vehicle so I was able to haggle to "as low as he could possibly get it." down so low, that they were "only going to make $750 from this sale." So I figured I did a good job haggling the price, my monthly payment was around the range I wanted and I was assured that I was getting a great price. When I get home, my brother shows me my same purchase advertised by the same dealer for 2000 dollars less than what I paid! After these guys reassured me they could go no lower, that they werent making any money off this, I find out that it was advertised for 2000 cheaper than what I paid. Not only that, but I check kelly blue book, and find out I've paid more than 3000 dollars than the suggested retail price! that is A lot of money when the suggested retail price is 8000 dollars. I feel like I was lied to, pressured, coerced etc. Is there anything I can do to get the advertised price? I just purchased this car a few hours ago, the dealer is closed right now. the whole reason I was trying to get a car was to save money, not waste it. I know it was my bad for not doing research, but I assumed I could trust these guys.
Also, could there be a way to talk to the bank so that I dont get financed for the purchase? Their finance guy hasn't turned in the papers and said he probably won't until Tuesday. The way he got my credit approved was by saying I make more than I really do. If I go to that bank with the info that I don't really make that much and I don't get the agreed upon finance rate or monthly payment, could that be a loophole out of the contract?
Lastly, there were several things that I am now believing were lies, changed timing belt, MPG, etc. All this was told to me, but not in writing. Is there anything that can be done if that stuff is not true? Mainly the timing belt, it's an Audi so I'm sure it will be expensive to replace...
There were 2 separate advertisments in 2 different magazines. both were 2000 dollars cheaper than what I paid
