A book like Unearthly by Cynthia Hand? teen/ young adult paranormal romance?

I have read several teen/ young adult paranormal romance novels and I find that Unearthly was one of my favourites!!

I am looking for a book SERIES that is similar to Unearthly (Young adult paranormal romance) in these main areas:
- It wasn't solely based on the fantasy or the romance
- The female lead is not a bimbo and can make decisions for herself
- Its not just about a girl and a guy.. the story involves a best friend, and or strong family relationships
- The romance developed over time, doesn't just happen overnight
- Interesting; you never want to put the book down, and have some sort of plot twist (not predictable)
- The guy wasn't the cheesy 'paranormal hottie'
- The way they described high school life wasn't cheesy or fake

I know this may sound like a long list but but I know there are books like this out there because I have read some that meet most if not all of the criteria I listed:
(so please don't suggest these books because I've already read them)
The Hunger Games series, Vampire academy series, Mortal instruments series, Infernal devices series, Graceling, Ruby Oliver series, Infinite Days, Uglies series

Other books I've read that aren't my favourite:

House of Night series, Firelight, Gemma Doyle series, Soul Screamers series, Twilight series, Evernight series, Wicked woods series, The vampire journals series
oh and I've also read the harry potter series (everyone has)

So, does anyone know of a book series like Unearthly by Cynthia Hand?
 
I also loved Unearthly, VA series, Hunger Games, and more & read most the books you did.

Sooo-
(I'm looking for more good books just like you, same types.. I'm kind of out of books like Unearthly right now, but I can name some that aren't really about romance, just suspenseful & definitley captivating)

-The Maze Runner by James Dashner [trilogy]
-Shadow Children Series by Margaret P. Haddix
-Fallen series by Lauren Kate [I'm gonna read this, it sounded good & i think most people liked it]
-The Chronicles of Nick by Sherrilyn Kenyon [series, amazing!!]


oh, and do you know if Unearthly is going to be a series? Because I loved it & I think there is a next book but I'm not sure...?
