A book about a girl who likes to write?

Which one is it? It is about a girl named Annabelle or something and she says that she likes to write. Not to write fictional stories but just write in pencil. That she has even experimented with her penmanship. And she has a best friend whos really fashionable and she goes to middle school. And there is this part in the book where she follows some hobo.

The book cover was pink and it had a shoe on it.
