A bar manager took my military I.D and wouldn't give it back, what do I do?

A bar manager took my military I.D and wouldn't give it back. That is a controlled document, hence taking it is illegal. He said he was going to show it to police. What should I do in this situation? Should I call the prick and tell him to mail it back to me, or what? This happened in Michigan, don't know if that makes a difference or not
