thinking of buying a 1991 toyota carolla its in good conidtion 1 owner and perfect regular servicing..
they want $1600 for it any good or not? its done 280,000 k's

If its in good shape its a good deal, after 180K km or so the mileage does not mean much, you are buying the vehicle based on service history and condition, at 280 K km you know right away if the vehicle was maintained or not. If maintained, Corollas last forever.

Corolla's are very reliable cars but 280,000 miles is a lot of miles for any gasoline engine. I would think that engine will need to be rebuilt or replaced in a while. I would get a compression test before I went any farther in thinking about that car. You could buy a Corolla with 100,000 less miles on it for less than $1600. I would look at more cars. At 280,000 miles, even with a new engine, the car is old and many other things are getting worn out. The transmission , suspension and all of the little things will be getting ready to be replaced. And a newer car would have ABS.

You should defiantly buy that car. My boyfriend has a 92 Corolla and aside from cosmetic issues its wonderful. It's extremely reliable one of the best cars for gas millage. He's a pizza delivery boy so he drives at least 100 miles a day and hasn't had any problems in the last year and a half. I think the millage is at 325,000 and its still going strong.

No dont buy it, the engine will be tired and almost f*cked. I dont think it had 1 owner if it has done 280, 000 kms, that is alot of kms. Buy a car that has done under 200, 000kms, you can get a better car that has done less than that for that price.
