The transmission is fine. Shifts nicely, quite, no problem at all. I know the transmission fluid hasn't been changed since I bought the car - it had 30k on it then and has about 130k on it now.
I went to car-x a short time ago, and they told me it was time to have the transmission flushed. OK, no big deal - but I'm going to shop around on having it done because $150 seemed a little steep.
So, I am at home now and I Googled transmission flush, to see what's available in my area....
It seems a lot a mechanics advise against having this done. From what I read manufactures (including toyota) warn against this practice - It can loosen up particles that aren't removed during the cleaning and can cause serious issues almost immediately.
Any mechanics out there have any opinions on this, and can help me sort through the BS on the web. Is a transmission flush really NOT RECOMMENDED by auto manufactures? Is there an alternative that isn't so aggressive that car-x or another chain shop can help me with - i.e. a filter and fluid change without a possibly harmful "flush".
I genuinely concerned about messing up my car, and don't know what to do.
