99 Mazda 626 (automatic) Question!?

Today I was going down the highway and at around 65-70mph it (99 Mazda 626 automatic) started redlining and I slowed down til 60 but then the car just continually decelerated. Fortunately I was able to pull over to the shoulder. I then put it in park and turned the car off. I then started the car and put it in drive and it would just rev but not go anywhere. I tried reverse, first and second gears and they also just revved. Does anyone know what might be wrong with it? And how much would it be for the parts? Thank you!
 
a possible problem could be that the car has to many miles and its time to break down

also it mean s that you could have blown the transmition

this part will probably cost about $200 or $300 at best
