99 Grand Cherokee V8 AllTime 4WD.
I just replaced the battery 3 weeks ago, everything was working fine after that. Would start up immediately with no problems. Then one day it wouldnt start, i jumped it with cables and it started right up. I let it idle for about 3 minutes then drove around fine for about 20 minutes (red lights, stop signs etc). No problems. When i got out again, i let it sit and idle, and after 5 mintues of idling it died. Tried to jump it again and eventually did, but gets the same problem. It dies while idling.

I would suggest it is your alternator. Go get your battery tested again then have them charge it free at autozone or wherever you got the battery from.

After it's charged and everything checks out good on the battery I would start to troubleshooting the alt. The way I do it is take a before reading then while running check again, should be a 2-3 volt increase. If not replace the alternator or check to see if it may have a fuse.

If everything still checks out check for a draw on the battery when the engine is off. You can do a search on the internet on this part.

If you do decide to replace the alt you can try to buy a rebuild kit for it, I found that it is a lot cheaper.
