99 jeep cherokee engine bucking.?

99 Cherokee, 2.5 in-line 4cylinder, automatic trans, 100,000 miles

Engine is bucking while accelerating at low rpms. If I give the car more gas everything smooths out and car runs fine. Car will also idle erracticly while coming to a stop but will smooth out after a second or two.Ive been noticing a strong exhaust smell, not gassy, haven't noticed any large amounts of exhaust smoke Check engine light came on, received error code that oxygen sensor was bad. . Replaced o2 sensor but problem persists. Engine is not overheating, all levels are fine.
 
my wifes car just did the same thing.......we fought with it for weeks until a neighbor noticed a broken hose between the blow-by and the master cylinder.

I would say you should look for a hose which is rotted enough to leak but not enough to notice at first glance.
