My friend has a 99 taurus with the 3.0 non DOHC engine, when you are accelerating the transmission often shifts into neutral or shifts down when it shouldn't, then jerks when it goes back into the correct gear. It often stalls off the line too so it is dangerous to drive in the city. The transmission fluid was brown and smelled bad when she got it, but it has been flushed and has a new filter. AutoZone plugged their deal into it and the speed sensor was throwing a code, will this sensor fix it or is the transmission roasted? It doesn't really slip or anything, it just wont shift right.
