99 Ford taurus Cyl. 3 misfire (P0303) with 113K miles.

Changed out plugs and wires and still have SEL flashing. Have been researching this and have seen answers from change the plugs and wires, to rebuild engine. Next step is to check fuel injectors to see if Cyl. 3 is clogged/dirty/faulty.

Any suggestions on before or after that step? Would chaning the EGR valve help? Coil pack? intake gasket? Not sure what my next step should be.

Thanks for any help and advice.

Is the car running bad? Turn the light off by disconnecting the batteryfor a few minutes, after you're sure you don't need a reset code for the radio. Reconnect the battery. If the light stays off, all the repairs were successful.

If the light is flashing and not on steady, that usually means the problem is intermittent, which could be a dirty fuel injector, or shorted coil, and or spark jump from coil pack or wire. Make sure when changing plugs that us use the dielectric grease as directed.
Intake gasket would generally show a lean mixture on the code read out, but then, so could a dirty injector.
