Have a timing light not sure which wire is for the 1st cylinder and where exactly are the marks suppose to be? Don't really see any marks around the crankshaft. any advice?

you have to set the initial timing on it to 0 degrees top dead center then the computer does the rest of it,it is adjustable though to start with, but after the initial timing is set the computer does the rest of it,good luck.

You cannot adjust the timing on that vehicle. The computer controls it. If you move the distributor the computer will just compensate to keep the timing where it want until you turn it so far you actually create a crossfire condition and then it will really run like crap.
Index the distributor where it was before you started and then diagnose whatever condition you are trying to correct.
Best of Luck !
