99 chevy truck won't start without priming?

I have a 99 chevy pick up, 5.7L. out of the blue one day truck would not start, checked for spark, all is good, tried priming throttle body and started right up but would'nt keep running unless plenum was put back on throttle body and then it will run an drive fine but only idles at about 600rpm. checked fuel pump and relay, all is good, no damaged fuel lines, changed fuel filter, use injector cleaner regularly and still the same problem. HELP!!!!
 
Check it or get someone to check it for codes. It's probably a sensor of some kind.
