I have a 99 Chevy Blazer with a 4.3L vortec motor. I bought it a few days ago so I don't know how long this problem has been going on. My transfer case seems like it is stuck between 2 and 4 wheel drive. Going down the road I hear a whining sound (similar to tires rubbing against a fender) coming from the transfer case. The transfer case doesn't always make that sound, actually I didn't hear it one time on my hour long drive home from work tonight. I had the shop put it up on a lift with the 4wd engaged and the front tires wouldn't spin, but there was that whining sound still coming from the transfer case which would change in tone if you rotated the front tire by hand. Has anyone had a similar problem and any luck fixing this problem?
