try to start engine, after couple of struggling sound it fails, got new battery a couple of month old. normally I will change distributor cap and rotor on my honda civic, it fixed problem. but 98 corolla has no distributor cap and rotor, the sparkplug wire sett , one end is spark plug, other end is ignition coils. ignition coil might go bad? thanks
in texas last a couple of days temperture is below 0,wash the car on saturday, try to get gas on sunday meter shows 1/4 left, then can not start, when try to start it, first couple sound is good(like normal),last sound is different, like something falling down thump. it looks like difficult to take out ignition coil? it comed with 2 ignition coil?

There's a lot of possibilities. I sounds more like a fuel problem with the struggling to start. You've got to give a little more info.

Try checking fuel pressure, check the spark plugs for fouling, check compression (maybe you jumped a tooth on the timing belt), check for codes on the engine computer (maybe a failed MAF sensor). If you're in a below freezing environment, try dumping a bottle of gas line dryer into the tank. Check fuel level (what if the gage is wrong?)

Corollas are good cars. Keep it.

I had a similar problem with my toyota and it turned out to be the starter. It wasn't even the classic click click click sound. It just wouldn't start like it was a bad battery. I've actually had to put two in over a ten year period. It's still a great car.
