98 Mercury Mountaineer/ Bad front Differential?

When i acquired the truck it had no front drive components (front differential, CV axles, or driveshaft). So from various sources (mostly junk yards) i got all the pieces i needed to put the old girl back to stock. After getting it all together I decided to take a nice test drive. After a good amount of time to warm up, and around 10 miles I was coasting down a hill and had a loud grinding/humming noise come from the front left wheel.. I got out and checked everything visually. I know that it isn't the Hubs because there was no play when i checked them when i had it apart, and i properly torqued them after installing the CV axles. (It had the cut off ends of the old CVs in the hubs to keep the bearings from, going bad) But back to the noise... it goes away after i sit for a few, and the longer i sit; the longer it takes to return. When i was putting everything in i did soak the fill hole in PB Blaster, and got to talking and accidentally was spraying the Bearing that the Drvier's side CV runs on in the diff... when i did it i didn't think it was a big deal. But now i'm wondering if PB+Bearing= BOOM.... Anyone have any ideas for me?

Footnotes: CV Axles, and front d/s are good. Hubs seemed good and were properly torqued. Front Differential is the most likely cause.
