98 Mazda protege LX 1.5?

can you help? My mazda makes a clacking noise when I brake only, Not tunning only when I brake, I checked the Axel It's new OK. They told me its the Bearing or the Upper stut mount. sounds like something is spinning going round and round so I'm assuming it's the wheel bearing. cars goes straight and does not shake , just that noise when I apply the beakes softly almost stopping, any one had the same symtoms. thanks
 
First I'd have the caliper bolts checked closely to make sure they were holding the calipers properly.
