'98 Jeep Wrangler Sport Squealing in Cold Weather?

When I seem to be under 15mph, and in 1st or 2nd gear (manual tranny), and I am turning, I am getting a squealing sound. It doesn't happen when I am driving straight, only when I turn the wheel, and when I am at higher speeds, it doesn't squeal at all.

It only started in December (I got the jeep in May 08), when the temperature started to drop. Is it only because of the cold, or should I get my power steering looked it?

Once the Jeep warms up (engine running/driving for 10/15 minutes), the squealing stops.
 
due to the cold weather some of the parts frozelikely u could either not drive or try to store it in a garage or somewhere warmer i get this problem from other people all the time u see this problem usually when the temp gets under 10 degrees F hope this helps
 
Start by physically looking at the belt while someone is turning
the wheel ( engine running ), if it's jumping it's loose.

............ WATCH THOSE HANDS OF YOURS....

Check the power steering belt for wear , then check the tension of the power steering belt.

Check the power steering fluid, warm. or cold read the plastic
cap & stick.

Most likely, your belt needs to be replaced or tightened...

That's about it.. If it were the bearing, you would hear this all of

the time, not just when turning...

You should first try checking your fluid level. If everything seems to be in order after a visiual inspection (looking for leaks,worn out hoses,etc) then take it to an ASE Certified mechanic to havi it professionally looked at. It sounds like your pump is wearing out.
