I've owned this van for about 8 years, my cousin has been driving it for 5, she sort of stayed on top of it - she's graduated college now and has a new car it's been sitting for a couple months,and my tranny went out of my Explorer so I went to pick it up from out of town (can't afford to fix that right now either) - I'd known it had issues for awhile, didn't really care because it was doing it's job for her but right now I need it.
Apparently the overdrive is out, not sure why or how, and it has a skip, at about 25 mph, unless it's going uphill...which it usually isn't. Other than that it seems to run great - checked all fluids they're fine, tranny fluid doesn't seem dirty. Is there a possibility this isn't a serious issue? Any clues on problems/costs....best and worst case. No time yet to take it to the shop, just want to know what I'm getting myself into.
