98 Ford Ranger gas line preasure release?

to release the pressure in the fuel line use the schader valve on the fuel rail on intake it looks like a tire stem with a cap. press the needle in the center and the fuel will come out it will spray so be careful. release until there is no more pressure.
 
You can use the test port in the fuel supply line under the hood. Unofficially, in common practice, we never bothered and just used some care not to get splashed, Be sure you use a QUALITY release tool and DO NOT damage the fittings. Ford only sells a stem to stern line assembly that is very expensive.
 
there is a valve on top of the engine that looks like a tire air up valve it may or may not have the black plastic cap on it.if not sure has somebody qualified to show you where its at.its called a Schrader Valve.to release pressure simply push it in like letting the air out of a tire(WATCH YOUR EYES)place a rag over the area to keep the spray down.
 
The correct way; pull the fuel pump fuse, start the engine, and let it run 'til it dies. Replace fuse and start when done.

The easy way; smack the inertia switch, then steps 2 +3, then reset when done.

The messy way; push the stem in on the Schraeder valve on the fuel rail, with a rag over it to soak up the fuel. Not recommended with a hot engine, or for chain-smokers.
 
Due to rust and corrosion, it is best to leave that alone unless absolutely necessary. As long as you have the gas cap off the tank, you should have very little pressure. No matter what you do you will get a little fuel out of the lines because they are full of fuel. I have changed a million and one fuel filters and never once used the bleeder valve.If it makes you feel better wear safety glasses and gloves, but you probably wouldn't need them. If you decide to use the valve anyway, look next to the center of the engine running parallel to your valve cover. It will be above your plugs on the fuel rail(just a metal pipe that connects to your injectors), and you will see what looks like a tire valve sticking straight up. But as I said it is quite unecessary.
