Im having a problem removing the inner cv joint on my 98 neon, the passengers side. I have the long piece, and the spider gear out. And just the hub and joint are there. Ive been told there is a snapring, or circlip, but i cannot find out the process to remove it. I have a slide hammer, and the adapter, but thats not working at all. Could someone please tell me how to remove the snapring, and get this joint out of the differential? Ive been at it for days, and would really appreciate some help.

Thanks!

You need the front of the car up in the air 3 feet. Then use two long pry bars behind the flange and pop the sucker off. If that does not work get a long punch or socket extension and a 2 lb. hammer. Put the punch behind the flange an hit it with the hammer to knock the flange out. The clip should remain on the flange. You may want to replace the flange seals by now. Go to Advance Auto and buy a complete rebuilt axle.

You could try using a pair of needle nose pliers. The king that have the 90 angle for removing the spring on drum brakes.
