98 chevy malibu P0172 and P0452...?

The first code is a complex calculation that involves the oxygen sensor and a few others to determine if you are operating at peak combustion efficiency. Insufficient air, excess fuel, injectors that are over-supplying, or a faulty oxygen sensor are common causes.

The interesting point is the link to the fuel tank pressure sensor. If that sensor is failing because the tank is too pressurized, and you are running rich at the cylinders, I would suspect the fuel pressure regulator is faulty. A fuel pump could cause that, too, but generally when fuel pumps fail, they don't over pressurize.

I have a 98 chevy malibu 2.4L. The check engine light comes and goes, its reading P0172(fuel system rich bank 1) and P0452 (fuel tank pressure sensor condition) codes. The car dies when you idle and sometimes when you are breaking. How much would the parts cost to fix this and what are the exact parts? Ive herd people with this problem find a crack in the hose on the throttle body side and gas caps. lol. When i went to autozone, they were not very helpful and told me to google it. Any info or experience would help, thanks!
